   Will you accept a car that has been in an accident and hasn’t run in 18 months?

   its a 1995 Mazda Miata.

   Hi Sean,

   Thanks for your question – yes, we will! All cars are useful to our program, even cars that are old, have high mileage or need a lot of repairs. In the case of your vehicle, we would probably send that car to auction, because the cost of repairs would be beyond what we budget for cars kept in the program. If your car was sent to auction, 100% of the proceeds would go back to VFC and would be used to repair cars awarded to low-income families.

   In this case, you would be able to deduct the car’s selling price (up to the fair market value of the car) from your taxes. For more information on how different donations are used by VFC, you can check out “What Happens to Donated Cars”

   what deduction or tax credit I expect for my 2000 GMC Sonoma truck in good working order with 210,000 miles ?

   Thanks for your inquiry! Due to the mileage, your truck would most likely be sent to auction. You would be able to deduct the selling price from your taxes, up to the vehicle’s fair market value. You can check out “What Happens to Donated Vehicles” for more info.
