Donate a Car in 3 Easy Steps

Vehicles for Change makes it simple to donate a vehicle.

Step 1: Complete the Donation Form

This takes less than 10 minutes, and you have three options:

         Online. Use our online form.

         Paper. Download and print a form. Submit it by mail, fax or email.

         Phone. Call us at 855-820-7990.

You’ll receive an email confirmation from us within 24 hours (an evening or weekend donation will be responded to on the next business day).

Step 2: Schedule a Pick-Up

Within 24 hours of VFC receiving your form, our towing service will call you to schedule a free pick-up of the vehicle. Pick-up is typically scheduled within 3 days (except during December and early January). 

Step 3: Meet the Tow Truck

Please have the keys, signed title and lien release (if applicable) ready for the tow company. Use this check list to prepare:

• Sign and print your name on the title as the seller, exactly as your name appears on the title. If two people are listed on the title, both must print and sign their names.

  View a sample Virginia title
• List Vehicles for Change as the buyer on the title. Vehicles for Change will complete the remaining fields as needed.
• Copy or scan both sides of the signed title for your records.
• Remove license tags, and return them to the Department of Motor Vehicles before cancelling the insurance.

Please note: We must have the title to complete your donation. Fill in only the buyer and seller fields. The Department of Motor Vehicles is very strict about titles. They will not accept titles that contain errors or have information scratched out.

Donation Receipt

Vehicles for Change will send you a receipt within 30 days of selling or awarding the car to a low-income family. The receipt will demonstrate how your car was used and what you can deduct from your taxes.
