Walk In Their Shoes – Baltimore

The first Walk In Their Shoes event took place in Baltimore on Tuesday, October 4,2011, with Del. James Malone, chair, Maryland House of Delegates transportation subcommittee; LiLi Taylor, Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Employment Development; Steve Cole, human resources, Kaiser Permanente; Suzanne Fisher-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record; and Ken Harvey, former Washington Redskins linebacker.

After a morning with VFC recipients, participants shared their experiences and observations with 90 business and nonprofit leaders during a luncheon at OneMain Financial. A mother of two from Baltimore City described her struggle to find a job and care for her family without a car, and VFC President Marty Schwartz presented a new study on the impact of car ownership on low-income families.
