Are you on the road to self-sufficiency but struggling with transportation? Are you ready to access better employment opportunities and gain greater personal independence? Vehicles for Change may be able to help you get there.
We receive car donations from the public, and our ASE-certified master mechanics ensure each vehicle
is road ready. We then provide these vehicles at affordable prices to eligible families across Maryland.
Please note that each sponsoring agency may have its own eligibility requirements.
If you meet the conditions below, you can apply through one of our sponsoring agencies.
To qualify for a vehicle, you must:
- Be a Maryland resident
- Be referred by one of the sponsoring agencies listed here
- Have a verifiable job offer or be working at least 30 hours per week
- Have a valid Maryland driver’s license
- Be insurable (no DWIs or DUIs)
- Not have another vehicle in your household
- Be able to cover fees for taxes, tags, and title (approximately $500)
- If under age 25, have at least one child
- Meet any additional requirements set by your sponsoring agency
If one of the following situations applies to you, you may choose the Maryland Transportation Assistance Program (TAP) as your sponsoring agency:
- You have received Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) within the past 12 months
- You are a non-custodial parent of a TCA recipient within the past 12 months
- You are a youth aging out of the foster care system
