State of Maryland Transportation Assistance Program

Get A Donated Car

The Maryland State Department of Human Resources (DHR) has partnered with Vehicles for Change to implement a Transportation Assistance Program (TAP), which will provide vehicles statewide to help the following maintain employment:

Current TCA recipients or former TCA recipient within the last 12 months,

Foster care youth ages 18 to 21 years old, or

Current TCA-connected non-custodial parents or non-custodial parents formerly connected to a TCA case within the last 12 months.

Contact your DSS case worker or a TAP coordinator through your local DSS office for more information.

Are you on the road to self-sufficiency but struggle with transportation? Are you ready to gain access to better employment opportunities and enjoy personal independence? Vehicles for Change may be able to help you get there!

We receive car donations from the public, our ASE certified master mechanics oversee making them “road ready,” and then we award them at affordable prices to eligible families in Maryland.

We have two programs that award vehicles. Additional qualifications can be found on these program pages.

To qualify for a vehicle, you must meet the following basic criteria:

  • You must be a Maryland resident.
  • You must be referred by one of the sponsoring agencies listed here
  • You must have a verifiable job offer or be working at least 30 hours a week
  • You must have a Maryland driver’s license.
  • You must be insurable (no DWIs or DUIs)
  • You must not have any other vehicle in your household
  • You must be drug-free
  • You must be able to cover fees for taxes, tags, and title (approximately an additional $500)
  • If you are under the age of 25, you must have children
  • You must be able to afford the ongoing cost of car ownership (insurance, fuel, and repairs, as needed)

At Vehicles for Change, we understand that a reliable car can significantly transform a family’s path toward greater independence. Our goal is to provide families in Maryland with the transportation they need to reach and maintain stable employment, pursue educational opportunities, and improve their quality of life. Each donated vehicle is carefully inspected and refurbished by ASE certified master mechanics, ensuring it is road-ready and affordable. By covering essential fees and staying on top of insurance, fuel, and maintenance, families can move forward with newfound autonomy. This focus on mobility not only makes a positive impact on individuals, but also strengthens entire communities by opening up opportunities to those who might otherwise miss them.

Interestingly, many of our supporters come from diverse backgrounds, some of whom enjoy occasional entertainment through modern, digital platforms. A responsible pastime could involve exploring an online casino bonus or testing out free spins from the comfort of home. This form of leisure, when managed responsibly, allows people to take a break from everyday pressures while maintaining a balanced budget. In fact, numerous enthusiasts of Swedish-licensed online gaming look for top offers that prioritize safety and clear terms. One place where such enthusiasts gather information is BastaCasinoBonus.se, a site dedicated to selecting worthwhile bonuses and spins. Indulging in occasional entertainment can be a fun complement to life’s many responsibilities, as long as moderation and community considerations stay front and center.

Whether you are working toward self-sufficiency through a donated vehicle or simply looking for a moment of relaxed diversion at home, there is a common thread: improving everyday life. Families who have received awarded vehicles gain better access to jobs and critical resources, generating a ripple effect of empowerment that reverberates in their neighborhoods. Meanwhile, those who enjoy reasonable leisure activities often find themselves more resilient in tackling challenges. In both cases, careful thought and balanced choices can lead to a stronger, more connected community. By continuing to support worthwhile programs like Vehicles for Change and also exploring healthy, safe methods of recreation, everyone contributes to a culture that values growth and opportunity for all. We remain dedicated to ensuring that every family in Maryland has the chance to move forward with confidence, while encouraging positive pursuits that reflect the varied interests of our supporters.
