VFC Recipient Victoria Smothers: “I love my ‘baby girl'”
July 20, 2014
At the beginning of 2012, Smothers had received a job offer from the Maryland Transit Authority to be a bus driver. It was an offer that required her to own a vehicle, so Metropolitan Baltimore Quadel (MBQ), referred Smothers to VFC. Within a few weeks, she drove away with a 1997 Honda Accord.
Not only did the vehicle allow Smothers to secure a new job, but it also assisted her in everyday tasks such as grocery shopping and cleaning clothes at the laundry mat. It also made it easier for Smothers to attend church services each week.
โIโm a church girl!โ she said, laughing.ย โThis is a great program. I would recommend anyone to this program. I am so grateful. It can work if you want it to work. As soon as I got the car, I knew I was going to try to pay it off early, and I did.โ
