Driving Change: Naysha’s Journey from Baltimore’s West Side to Powering a Movement
March 7, 2025Growing up on the west side of Baltimore, Naysha Conway-Hart knew what it meant to rely on walking as the primary way to get around. Simple tasksโgetting groceries, going to school, and accessing opportunitiesโbecame daily challenges without a car. But everything changed when her mother could finally afford a car when Naysha was 12. Suddenly, doors opened. Their world expanded beyond the limits of bus schedules and long walks.
That experience stuck with Naysha. She understood firsthand the power of mobility.
Fast-forward to 2023. Now the Workforce Development Manager at Constellation Energy, Naysha was drawn to the Vehicles for Change (VFC) mission. When Constellation partnered with VFC as part of its Powering Change Workforce Developmentย initiative, she knew this was more than a corporate collaborationโit was personal.
One moment cemented her passion. She handed the keys to a newly awarded car recipientโa single mother fighting to build a better life. The woman looked at Naysha, tears in her eyes, and shared how the car meant she could finally take a better-paying job and provide more for her daughter. It was a full-circle moment.
For Naysha, VFC’s mission mirrors her journey. She remembers her first carโa 1997 Nissan Sentraโand the independence it gave her. “It was reliable, fun, and brought me so much joy,”ย she recalled. Now, she’s part of a movement ensuring others experience that same freedom and joy.
Looking ahead, Naysha is eager to see vehicle donations and awards grow, especially as Constellation Energy expands its partnership into the Midwest. She remains committed to helping families gain access to reliable transportation’s life-changing power. Because for Naysha, this is more than a jobโit’s a calling. A way to give back. A way to help others drive toward a brighter future.
