Serving the Community

Michelle Mitchell recently ended an unsafe relationship, which led her to lose her house and car. Her sister has been kind enough to lease a car for her and provide a house for her to stay in. In exchange, Michelle helps take care of her sister’s autistic son in addition to her own 3 children. With the car lease ending at the end of October, Michelle does not have enough money to continue it.
Working as a community habilitation coordinator, Michelle helps match up developmental disability specialists with their clients. Michelle only lives 3 miles from her work, but because she does house visits she would be unable to keep her job without a car.

Michelle looks forward to owning a vehicle, and the independence it will provide. Michelle’s car award will lead her to helping the community, and her kids are excited to participate in after school activities again.
