What Happens to a Donated Vehicle that is Sold at Auction?
July 20, 2014Donated vehicles that have high mileage or need extensive repairs are sold at auction. Vehicles for Change will clean up the car and select an auction partner where the selling price will be maximized. We assign a minimum bid value to assure it isn’t sold for less than a fair price. Proceeds allow us to prepare more cars for low-income families.
Donors whose cars are sold at auction can deduct the vehicle’s selling price from their taxes, up to the fair market value of the vehicle.
