A Heartfelt Journey with Vehicles for Change – Raymone’s Story
February 28, 2025When Raymone moved to Baltimore in 2020, he was eager to get involved in the community and support causes that truly made an impact. A colleague shared an inspiring story about Marty Schwartz, Vehicles for Changeโs CEO, who had just been on the Kelly Clarkson show, and it sparked his curiosity. After meeting with Marty and learning about the vision of Vehicles for Change, Raymone knew he had to be a part of it.
For Raymone, the mission of Vehicles for Change is deeply personal. It’s about providing people with the access and opportunities they need to live their best lives. The cars that are awarded to families provide more than just transportationโthey unlock the chance to reach work, school, doctor appointments, and so much more. โBeing a small part of this life-changing work makes proud,โ said Raymone.
There are many moments that stand out, but the car award celebrations always move him the most. Watching a family receive a car, knowing how it will change their daily life, Raymone just how vital transportation is to everyone. It’s a powerful experience.
Vehicles for Change impacts the community in ways that go beyond the vehicles. The skills training for justice involved individuals is helping rebuild their confidence, gain employment, and create stability for their families. The ripple effect of this work is felt in the community every day.
The most rewarding part of Raymoneโs involvement is seeing Vehicles for Change live its mission through both its programs and advocacy. Every interaction and every story shared expands the vision, so much so that Raymone currently sits on the Vehicles for Change National Board.
Looking ahead, he hopes to see the organization grow, reaching even more families, building stronger partnerships, and scaling its operations. Raymone said, โThe future is bright, and Iโm excited to continue my involvement in the years to come.โ
Lastly, a fun fact: Raymoneโs first car was a 1985 Pontiac Sunbird, light blue with a sunroof. He used to drive it around with the sunroof open, even though it would overheat and start smoking if he drove it too far. Classic first car memories!
Together, weโre making a differenceโthank you for your support!
