Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts Help Make Holidays Special
December 24, 2014Both Boy Scout and Girl Scout organizations work hard to in a still a strong sense of community service in their members. Vehicles for Change was recently fortunate enough to have had members of both organizations help our families โ all within one week!

As his Eagle Scout service project, Virginia resident David Manzella helped a familyย in need solve its transportation challenges. David planned, developed and led the project from start to finish, securing a donated vehicle, raising the funds to repair the vehicle, and leading a team of eight Boy Scouts and friends in making the repairs themselves. On Tuesday, December 16th, David handed over the car keys to David and Ashley Meachum, who have four young children. The Meachums live in Mount Airy, Maryland โ their access to employment and doctorโs appointments was very limited without a vehicle. Watch WMAR ABC2โs coverage of the award ceremony here.
The troops also brought non-perishable foods to fill up the trunk of the car which would be awarded to Comegys. One troop also provided a $50 gift card to make sure the family would have a delicious turkey for the holidays.
Thank you to the Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts who made this a very special holiday season for two of our families!
