On the Road to Independence

Leontyne Price lives in the West side of Baltimore but works in Towson, and her commute to work takes 2 ½ to 3 hours every morning. She normally takes two buses but if she is late, she has to take three or four. If she misses the bus, she has to pay $20 to take an Uber or a Lyft.
Leontyne has six children she wants to spend more time with. Since she leaves at 6:30a.m. to get to work in the morning, she is not able to spend as much time with them as she would like. Her older boys play sports, but they miss practices sometimes because it is hard for Leontyne to get them there. Sometimes their coach has to give them rides, and occasionally they have to take an Uber or Lyft.

Leontyne’s new car will allow her to go to job interviews to get a better paying job. She will finally be able to go to Philadelphia to visit her brother. She says her car is a girl, since she has so many boys in her family, and she plans on naming it soon.
