Vehicle Donation: It’s An Easy Process

One factor that may deter families from donating a vehicle is their concern that the donation process may be complicated. At Vehicles for Change, we make car donation easy!

Other than scheduling a pick-up time and cleaning personal items out of your car, when you donate to Vehicles for Change the only “to do” item on your list will be to make sure that the vehicle title is properly transferred to VFC.

Before calling VFC to donate your vehicle, we recommend checking your records to make sure that you have the title. To make the donation process move faster, VFC requests that the title be in the vehicle at the time of pick up. If this doesn’t work, donors can mail the title to VFC after the vehicle has been picked up. Keep in mind that VFC can’t process your vehicle donation without the title.

Also keep in mind that if there is a lien on the title, you will need a lien release before the title can be signed over to VFC. A lien release can be obtained from the financial institution that provided the vehicle loan.

Once you have all the required paperwork, the title can be signed over to VFC in just a few steps

  • Sign and print your name on the title as the seller, exactly as your name appears on the title
  • List Vehicle for Change as the buyer on the title. Vehicles for Change will complete the remaining fields as needed

Vehicles for Change recommends you keep a copy of the title for your records.
