How To: Prepare Your Vehicle for Donation

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is: What needs to be done to prepare my vehicle for donation? Below are our suggestions:

• Take all personal belongings out of your vehicle before the tow truck arrives
• Remove license tags, and return them to the Department of Motor Vehicles before cancelling the insurance
• Prepare ownership documents
  • If there was a lien on title, make sure you have a copy of the lien release before the vehicle is picked up
  • Sign and print your name on the title as the seller, exactly as your name appears on the title
  • List Vehicles for Change as the buyer on the title. Vehicles for Change will complete the remaining fields as needed
  • Copy or scan both sides of the signed title for your records
  • Give signed title and lien release to tow truck driver at the time of pick up
