Research by Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health shows that while Baltimore residents can reach practically any job in the region within one hour by car, public transit can reach only 9% of jobs in that time. There are currently 81,000 low-income households in Baltimore without cars. Therefore, when you can give a family in need a car, it significantly increases the job opportunities available to them.

At Vehicles for Change, we’ve awarded over 7,500 cars to low-income families in need, thanks to donors like you who are passionate about giving back. These gifts have helped to improve the lives of more than 26,000 individuals by providing them access to better-paying jobs, and a means to support their families.

As you can imagine, while a car donation can seem like a simple way to give back, it transforms people’s lives, not to mention restores the pride they can have in themselves as active participants in society. And it doesn’t stop there. Vehicles for Change also employs formerly incarcerated individuals, training and equipping them with real-life experience as advanced auto technicians. After our training program, 100% of graduates find employment as auto technicians to help restore cars for donations.
