Bus Driver Gets First Set of Wheels

Vera Williams is a bus driver, transporting passengers more than 100 miles every day. Yet she didn’t have a vehicle of her own to get to work. She struggled to care for her three teenage children and had difficulty taking them where they needed to be.

The Detroit Michigan office of Vehicles for Change, in partnership with Wayne Metro Community Action Agency, awarded Vera a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer.

With her new vehicle, Vera is able to reduce her monthly transportation expenses and eliminate her transportation challenges. Her children are excited to have more freedom and Vera will finally be able to keep up with her kids’ busy schedules.
